Come one, come all...here's the place to discuss the game...yes, [profile] sxeraven, this means you...*g*

The CBC used Rush's "Closer to the Heart" to open their broadcast...cool.

"Closer to the Heart"
Rush

And the men who hold high places
Must be the ones who start
To mold a new reality
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart
The blacksmith and the artist
Reflect it in their art
They forge their creativity
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart

Philosophers and ploughmen
Each must know his part
To sow a new mentality
Closer to the heart
Closer to the heart
You can be the captain
I will draw the chart
Sailing into destiny
Closer to the heart

Bleh... probably mostly because I think San Jose might be able to better beat Anaheim.
And um... Erhoff... but Hemsky... and other random Sharks ... and other various Oilers...

*wails*

Saturday. :) Saturday I will be happier.
Buffalo!

OOOH! Speaking of BUFFALO! Hehe!!! HEE!!!!

Well, not that San Jose is doing a much better job of scoring at the moment, but Edmonton doesn't seem like a scoring-heavy team. And if Colorado (granted, power play during that series for Colorado = shit) couldn't beat Anaheim...

Well, they always did say goaltending will win you a game, and sometimes (case in point, Montreal a couple years back) a series...

Seems San Jose's more of a scoring threat than Edmonton.

Anaheim's scoring = Teemu Selanne, so I guess so long as Roloson's on, they're good to go. *L*

Hee... I'm used to watching Eastern Conference Hockey and the Red Wings. *L*

so basically, you've got more confidence in San Jose's ability to score, and you're not sure Rolly's going to stay on his game?

Hubby says....Edmonton's grit will keep Anaheim from playing their game. Edmonton won't let them get their speed...

From: [identity profile] sxeraven.livejournal.com

Believe it or not, Anaheim didn't strike me as an overly fast team. Not as fast as Ottawa (against Tampa they were eating up the ice)... and not as fast as Buffalo (they FLY).
They're very defense-oriented. The shots that often get on net aren't quality (not that it matters, enough garbage goals are scored and they count just as much as any other goal)... Not even so much that they block a lot of shots (like Buffalo), but they're always in position, and Niedermayer (Scotty) eats up ice time the way Pronger does for Edmonton. And he is fast. Even though he's old enough to be a Ranger now.

Roloson is playing INCREDIBLE hockey. If he stays on his game, Edmonton/Anahaim might be amazing.

I really am looking forward to Carolina/Buffalo. That strikes me as a very even series. Both teams are big, though I think Carolina gets a slight edge on size, becuase their forwards are far bigger (Staal / Cole (still hurt I think, right?) vs. Drury/Briere there's really no contest size-wise actually. Speed I give to Buffalo... and goalies I think they're about even too. Both teams have excellent goaltending.

Buffalo will freakin' *dance* around Carolina. For sure.

You're right it's going to be a hell of a series though.

Woot! Guaranteed hocky on Friday...

Guaranteed hockey Saturday, not Friday.

We only have hockey this Friday if the Sharks win.

Hubby's saying if Edmonton Wins, the first Edm/Ana game is going to be on Friday. He's insistent that that's the case. I suppose it's possible that the CBC lied to us...

I got a call from my buddy Steve, who runs the local card/comic shop... and this is what he says:

"So I seem to remember you like this kid... Daniel Briere? on Buffalo? You should come visit me."

and so I call him back... and he says "Come see me Friday or Saturday. I have a card you might like."

Me: "Which is?"

Steve: "That Daniel Briere kid? I pulled a 4-color patch autograph."

Me: "Uh yeah. that card's coming home with me, you know that right?"

Oh, SNAP! That rocks....lucky, lucky gal. We used to have a connection for that type of stuff..but no longer.

Yeah. I ♥ Steve.
He's selling the Ovechkin rookie I pulled for me too. *L*

I started going in there for baseball cards years ago (like... 10 years ago or more) and slowly it became more chitchat than me going in and handing over $ to get cards... and now... he's just someone I call a friend. I'll go in there and walk out four hours later and the only $ I spent was on lunch delivery *L*

I love relationships like that. For me, it was Bakka books in Downton TO, and a couple of the comics/rpg shops...we'd spend all day there, spend almost no money...and have a hell of a time. *g*

Um...he just hit his stride? Dunno, baby but whatever's in the water he ought to keep drinking it.

TORRES. You moron.

Random side note... I went surfing Yahoo for pictures... and it'd be nice if the Yahoo people doing the captioning looked at the pictures and read the names on the jerseys in those pictures.

They just showed a picture of USA #41 and called him Brooks Orpik, but the name on the back of the jersey starts with an "A"

and then there's the goalie, who they called "Anderson" of the Blackhawks, and the letters I can make out on the back of his jersey are "CAS" and they come right in a row. There is no "cas" anywhere in Anderson.
